My name is Todd Brodeur and I've lived in Massachusetts my whole live. I have been playing Frisbee since I was a child and have been seriously involved in all aspects of the sport for over 30 years. I started out tossing Frisbees with friends and family in the backyard. As I improved, I would go to the local park and play long toss with my friends in a large open field. I discovered my uncle Gary Brodeur was very good and he would sometimes join us. He taught me different throws, catches and tricks. He also brought me to my first Frisbee tournament, where I got to see the best Frisbee Freestyle players in the world compete. I went back home to practice and try to teach myself some new moves. I started to play Ultimate and Disc golf. I found out where the local tournaments were being held and quickly made friends with many of the top players in New England.
I worked on getting better and started competing in 1983.
I won my first Massachusetts State tournament in 1989. I continued to go to competitions and have won over 40 state and regional titles. I never thought I could become a World Champion, but I love to play, so I kept practicing and getting better. The World Championship was held in Italy in 2004 and with a little luck and 2 great partners, Paul Kenny and Larry Imperiale, I won my first World title in the co-op division. Then in 2006, in Berlin Germany, we won again!!!
It is truly a life-long healthy recreational activity that anyone can enjoy at many different levels. The simple beauty of a Frisbee flying in the air still fills me with joy.
